This is a sister site of www.beagar.com.au.  The purpose of this site is to focus on patents.  Patents can be complex and difficult to understand.  We believe that a site dedicated to patents is needed to do justice to this fascinating and ever-changing field of the law.

Many innovators and innovative businesses fail fully to grasp the importance of patents and how they can make or break a business.  

One of the goals of this website is to address that problem. That the problem exists is really a function of the difficulty to understand what a patent really is and how it relates to an invention.  Inventions and patents for inventions are intangible assets.  However, as I've mention in the sister site, there's nothing intangible about having your shipping container of widgets impounded, though because they are covered by an Australian patent.

Proper identification and protection of your invention can have you doing the impounding instead of being impounded. This kind of action happens more often than you might think. It's the kind of news you don't get to hear about. In my 20 years of practice, it has been common for clients only to  "get it" once they've blundered ahead, only to crash into a patent.

Inadvertent infringement can have devastating consequences. Can you imagine what it's like to have to tell your customers that you can no longer supply them because the product in question infringes a patent? Not pleasant. And certainly not good for business.

We're passionate about intellectual property.  That passion has produced the blog, Bazpat. In there, we try to extract lessons for best dealing with protection strategies, conflicts and complications.

We really enjoy hearing about how our clients cope and overcome many of the business challenges we face on a daily basis. That interest allows us to make strategic registration decisions that are tailored to help clients, rather than leaving them even more confused than before.

The future of Australia is heavily dependent on how we treat intellectual property. It is therefore exciting for us to work in a profession that specialises in the registration of intellectual property.

We partake enthusiastically in online social networking, as can be seen from the links in the side bar, which is just another side-effect of our growing knowledge-based society.
